Kyle Dion: Sassy

If you don't know Kyle Dion by now...where the hell have you been? This dude is everything right with music: sexy, charming, talent...endless talent.

Sassy is the epitome of everything he is and then some. Dion uses that pretty ass voice of his to sing some of the most lascivious, cheeky, irreverent lyrics. Don't mistake his gorgeous tone quality and vocal technicality for something delicate ("I don't take me too serious. My vernacular reckless, period," "Money"). He's not afraid to express whatever happens to be on his mind at the time. Whether the excesses of material wealth or his role as a cunnilingus connoisseur. Rough sex and deep-seated self-doubt (which he then takes back with an interlude and a chuckle).

He's also genius of subtle sampling. Whether Snoop Dogg and Pharrell's "Drop it Like It's Hot" in track "Parmesan" or his slant-sample of the entire composition of Chingy's "Right Thurr" in track "Purr." Dion just has such an incredible capacity for the dirty. And he does it in such a way that it's almost regal.

Of course, that could all just be a product of him having that powerful falsetto register and nearly perfect technical execution. He clearly envisions himself a sort of late-'70s, early-'80s Prince type: All heated breath and sticky lyrics. Even giving his own interpretation of "I Wanne Be Your Lover" with the slink and sex of "Cookie" (that bassline is unmistakable).

If you're serious about finding out who Kyle Dion is, first visit his website (I rarely promo like that, but with him, I'll make an exception). Then find your way to Sassy. It's most certainly an experience. You'll either come away sticky and satisfied, tickled to death or both.
