Joseph Solomon: The Covers

On the aptly titled Covers, Joseph Solomon does a commendable job with exactly that.

Solomon’s voice lends itself well to some of the more emotionally taxing (whether through content or ethos) tracks (“Goodspeed,” “Valerie”), easing them on the ear and making them more approachable to both seasoned music lovers and casual listeners.

His tributes to Bob Marley are mature, well-rendered love notes to the legendary musician, keeping his message and aural aesthetic intact. He accomplishes something that's no simple ask: competently intertwining his smoky signature vocal without compromising the originals’ integrity.
