Another instance where an artist and their work fall in the middle for me. But in this case, that middle marker shifts with every song. A singer with a very pretty voice, gorgeous music. However, there’s just something a bit missing. The music seems to overpower the soft-voiced singer, but in the same breath the music seems to complement her sound perfectly It’s an odd balance that further throws me into confusion because there are instances (as in “Snakes X Elephants”) where the combination of her softness and the music’s dissonance just doesn’t work. Her rugged language seeming forced. That being said, Fana Hues is a great singer with a truly lovely voice. It’s most definitely worth it to see where she goes in the future, because this is a decent start.
