This album… this feels like home. Like honest-to-goodness warmth from the soul of my First Nations ancestry. Emma Donovan has a voice that wraps you up in its emotion, the depth in timbre full enough to reach into you and ease the weariness. She speaks of her mother and grandmother, the proud blood of the Warrell Creek tribe. She speaks of the simplicity of love and respect, of finding peace within to combat the forces of all the hatred and lack of compassion without. It’s a lovely piece of music that resonates to my core.
